In March 2010, Mel George, Katie Hughes and Heather Binns will travel to Bangalore, India on a Women Build/Habitat for Humanity volunteer trip. Along with dozens of other volunteers from around the globe, they will be working with Indian families to help build safe and affordable homes. The project kicks off on March 8th, which is International Women’s Day. They will be building in partnership with rural and underprivileged Indian women who have formed microfinance self-help groups so that they can save money to build better lives for their families.
The Women Build program engages women of every race, age, and skill level to plan and build all aspects of a healthy and affordable home with an eligible family. Through participating in the project, women have the opportunity to gain skills and confidence by working with an all-women team of crew leaders, volunteers and tradeswomen in a supportive and empowering building environment.
About Habitat for Humanity Global Village: Habitat for Humanity Global Village trip let volunteers experience another culture while making a difference in the lives of others. As a Global Village volunteer, you will work alongside members of the host community in building decent, affordable housing with Habitat for Humanity. Your active partnership will help raise awareness of the burden of poverty housing and create a true global village of love, community, homes and hope.
Many thanks!
